The large beef brisket cut contains lots of collagen, giving it a chewy texture. Slow cooking methods turn the meat into a mouthwatering, fall-apart dish.

  • Cut from the cow's breast
  • Weighs between 3 and 8 pounds
  • Divided into two parts
    • The first cut is the brisket's leaner part.
    • Extra fat makes the second cut (point cut or deckle) tastier.
  • Mainly used for barbecue, corned beef, and Jewish pot roast
  • Can be refrigerated for five to eight days in its packaging

FAQ

Is beef brisket the same as corned beef?
Corned beef is made from beef brisket, but they aren’t the same thing. Corned beef is beef brisket cured in brine and preserved with spices. Brining gives corned beef its pink color.
How do I smoke a beef brisket?
Start by trimming the brisket and preheating your smoker. Season your meat with salt and pepper, garlic, herbs, or marinades like lemon juice and vinegar, and then it’s ready to be smoked.

You may use brisket spray made of apple juice and water mixture or apple cider vinegar as you cook the meat. Wrap the brisket and continue smoking the cut at a temperature of at least 200°F. Once done, set the meat aside. Slice once cool, and your smoked beef brisket is ready to serve!
Where can I buy beef brisket?
You’ll find beef brisket in the meat section of your local supermarket. However, these cuts may not be ideal for smoking, so you might want to visit local farmers, farmer’s markets, or butcher shops. You can also find premium brisket meat online at TenderBites.
How much is a kilo of beef brisket?
Beef brisket’s price in the Philippines is currently ₱350 per kilo.
